I had to update Java this morning and was in a rush. I accessed the first page of the install wizard without looking at it thoroughly and then realized I should have paid attention and noticed it said it would install the Ask.com app. Grrr.
just another wordpress site
(Here's a screenshot I captured a few months ago)
It was possible to uninstall it, but I continued. But there was no evidence of the extension after the install. Chrome reported that the extension "Search App By Ask Version 2" had been added when I restarted Chrome.
I went through my settings for my search engine and didn't enable it. The website ask.com had been added, but was not set as the default engine. Gone with that then!
I don't like that Oracle included a browser toolbar during the Java runtime installation. I'm wondering how many children who have installed Java to run Minecraft have this toolbar now?
